I Knew A Man Named Iver

When I was one of the managers of a liquor store in Plymouth, MN (Twin Cities suburb), we had a man who came in whose name wasn't just Iver. It was Iver Iverson. In other words, Iver - Son of Iver of Iver of Iver.
Every time I would help him, my mind got stuck on "My name is Iver, I'm an Engine Driver..."

Twitter & Who Gets It & Who Doesn't

Thanks to Vicky (@eeUS) and Randy (@RandyMatheson), I saw this link to a BusinessInsider.com article about Twitter titled "The Case Against Twitter, By The Numbers."

Remember, Twitter is exactly what YOU make of it.

What new users don't understand, is that when you join Twitter, you are standing in a big empty room. You're shouting to yourself. If you don't follow people and make conversations with those people and the people they follow, you'll always be by yourself. It's called "social media" for a reason. If you don't act social at a party, no one is going to talk to you. If you don't act social on Twitter, no one is going to follow you, either.

I wonder if the majority of people joining lately think it's a chat room where you just shout "hello!" and people talk back. You need to engage to make it worth your while. Otherwise, you'll get nothing, and understandably so, out of it.
